Most of us have a deep-rooted fear of quitting.

It’s a stigma that’s portrayed to us in a negative light where being a quitter means you’re a failure.

I've seen countless leaders held back by their aversion to quitting that mainly comes from the view of “I must win”

This fear is sabotaging your success.

But what if "quitting" is a powerful key to unlocking your potential when it’s used as a strategic choice?

This process is one that I've guided my clients through when a fear of quitting has been brought into their conscious awareness and the realisation that it's been hindering their progress.

Recognise old patterns — We often hold onto outdated beliefs about quitting.

My client Georgia said, "I have huge issues with quitting, for sure. I always have."

Identify where your fear comes from. Is it past experiences? Society's expectations? Passed down beliefs?

Reframe "quitting" as a conscious choice — There's a big difference between quitting and making a strategic decision to stop something that's no longer serving you.

Ask yourself: "What do I need to let go of for this word to no longer negatively impact me?"

You've probably seen this in your company where money, time and resources have been put into a project or service, that's not producing an ROI.

Trust the process — Accept that the reasons for your decisions may not be immediately clear.

As Georgia realised, "You have to trust things will be revealed later why they have to happen."

Embrace uncertainty as part of growth.

When you overcome your fear of quitting, you open doors to new opportunities and growth.

You become more agile in your decision-making and more aligned with your true goals.

Remember, sometimes "quitting" is exactly what you need to do to move forward.

It's not failure — it's a strategic pivot.
